Healthy Habits - Vitamin A & Mealtime Mice

Healthy Habit of the Day...
VITAMIN A helps your body fight infection and keeps your hair and skin healthy, too. The bright orange color of carrots tells you they're an excellent source of vitamin A!
Recipe of the week...
MEALTIME MICE
Prep Time: 8 minutes
Makes: 1 serving
Ingredients:
  • 1 canned pear half
  • A few raisins
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 marshmallow
Utensils:
  • A carrot peeler
  • 3 toothpicks
  • Scissors
Steps:
  1. The first thing you want to do is check with a grown-up before you start.
  2. Open the can of pear halves and wash and peel the carrot.
  3. Use a carrot peeler to make 1 carrot curl. To make it curl, place the carrot slice into a bowl of ice water for 5 minutes.
  4. Place the pear half on a plate and put three raisins on it for eyes and a nose.
  5. Cut the marshmallow into 2 thin circular slices and place them on the pear, just above the eyes.
  6. Add a carrot curl at the opposite end, under the pear half. (Use toothpicks to secure all parts to the mouse body if needed.)
  7. Enjoy!
*For a similar treat with a different taste, try using a canned peach half for a body, cherry stems for antennae, and half a maraschino cherry slice for a mouth, and you've got a Smiling Spider!
