Healthy Habits - Vitamin E & Road Rascals

Healthy Habit of the Day...
VITAMIN E is found in vegetable oils and nuts. It helps to protect our red blood cells, which carry oxygen to our body's cells.
Recipe of the week...
ROAD RASCALS
Prep Time: 8 minutes
Makes: 12 servings
Ingredients:
  • 3 celery stalks
  • 3 tablespoons of cream cheese
  • 3 tablespoons of chopped nuts
  • 12 animal crackers
Utensils:
  • A cutting board
  • A sharp knife
  • Measuring spoons
  • A table knife
Steps:
  1. The first thing you want to do is check with a grown-up before you start this.
  2. Once you get their "ok," wash the celery and place it on the cutting board.
  3. Ask your grown-up helper to cut each stalk into three sections, after trimming both ends, using the sharp knife.
  4. Use a table knife to spread cream cheese in the groove of each celery stick.
  5. Sprinkle the nuts on top of the cream cheese and use your finger to push them partially into the spread.
  6. Add one or two animal crackers to each celery section.
  7. Enjoy your snack!
*ANTS ON A LOG is a similar treat with a different taste. To make it, spread peanut butter in the celery and add a few raisins to each piece. Don't forget to enjoy it!
