Healthy Habit of the Day...
Many of the VITAMINS we need for our bodies are found in fresh fruit. If you eat enough fresh fruit and vegetables each day, you may not need to take a vitamin tablet everyday.
Recipe of the week...
FROZEN FRUIT POPS
Prep Time: 8 minutes
Makes: 5 servings
Ingredients:
- 16-ounces of strawberries
- 1 8-ounce carton of plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of honey
Utensils:
- 5 popsicle sticks
- 5 small foil squares
- 5 5-ounce paper cups
- A blender
- A sharp knife
- A cutting board
- An 8x8x2-inch baking pan or tray
- A rubber scraper
Steps:
- The first thing you want to do is check with a grown-up before you start this.
- Once you get their okay, ask them to wash and cut the strawberries using the cutting board and a sharp knife.
- Put the strawberries, yogurt and honey into the blender and blend until smooth.
- Put the paper cups on the baking pan.
- Pour the fruity mixture into the cups, filling each cup halfway.
- Cover each cup with one foil square.
- Ask your grown-up helper to cut a small slit in the center of the foil using a sharp knife.
- Insert one popsicle stick through each foil slit and into the fruit mixture
- Put the pan into the freezer for 2-4 hours, or until the pops are solid.
- To serve, remove the foil and tear the paper cups off the pops.
