Places to Go - Arab Community Center for Social and Economic Services (ACCESS)
The Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS) received a grant to establish Nature in Our Neighborhood, an outdoor environmental education program for children and families. It will foster learning about the natural world and promote pride in and stewardship of the natural resources of the local community. Most activities will take place close to participants' homes, including backyards, schoolyards and nearby parks and green spaces. Activities will be year-round and will include such things as an after-school "Nature in Our Neighborhood" club and the creation of a community garden at ACCESS and a wildlife habitat at a local elementary school. Key partners for this project include the University of Michigan-Dearborn Environmental Interpretive Center, The Henry Ford, the National Wildlife Federation and Salina Elementary School.
