grayPlaces to Go - Greenfield Village

The Edison Institute, Dearborn
The Edison Institute received a grant on behalf of The Henry Ford to develop The Great Outdoors at Greenfield Village. This program, which will take advantage of the recently restored River Rouge Oxbow and adjacent meadows and wetland, is a pilot project that will test a variety of new activities that will be incorporated into the ongoing public offerings of Greenfield Village. It will include a series of outdoor educational experiences for young children and their families that will help families experience, appreciate, learn from and enjoy the outdoors. For example, a series of child/family workshops offered on weekends focusing on themes such as botany and hiking, soil and mineralogy, fishing and aquatic life, birds and wildlife, outdoor cooking and camping.
