County of Macomb, Mt. Clemens

The County of Macomb received a grant on behalf of the Michigan State University Extension-Macomb County office to establish NATURE: New Adventures Together Using ouR Environment, an outdoor learning and recreation program for children and families. NATURE is a partnership between Michigan State University Extension-Macomb County (MSUE), the Warren Fitzgerald School District and Mt. Calvary Church. Together, these organizations will offer year-round, family-oriented programs that create enthusiasm for, appreciation of and involvement in the out-of-doors. Participants in the program will engage in a variety of activities in the outdoors, including birding, weather study, fishing, astronomy and worm composting. Families will also participate in a community service project that will promote improvement and stewardship of the natural landscape.
