Women's Survival Center, Pontiac

The Women's Survival Center received a grant to establish This Land is Your Land, a program to involve families in a variety of outdoor activities, including the planning and development of two new community gardens and nature areas. This Land is Your Land will offer an array of year-round outdoors activities for families of the children currently enrolled in the Center's child-care center and a neighboring church, as well as other families residing in Pontiac and surrounding communities. Families will participate in such things as wintertime explorations of Pontiac's historic district, hikes to area parks, fishing expeditions, visits to nature trails and overnight camping. Major partners include the Goldner Walsh Nursery, the Charles L. Bowers School Farm, Arts and Scraps and The Adventure Center, as well as churches and other local agencies serving disadvantaged families.
