Season Three1/6/06 - Wacky Weather
We're going to learn how to have fun outside and in the weather, regardless of how gray and rainy the skies might be. We'll be making our own backyard weather stations, because with the weather as unpredictable as it is in Michigan, a weather station is a fun way to enjoy the outdoors and eventually see if you can predict what's coming. Then we'll visit with some Girl Scouts to see an easy way you can grow plants and vegetables regardless of what the weather looks like outside. And we'll go down to the New Detroit Science Center to hear about another Excellent Experiment we can do on a rainy day. 1/13/06 - Star Hunt
We've got our eyes on the sky as we learn some cool tips for star-gazing in your own backyard. We'll visit our friends at the New Detroit Science Center and hear all about astronomy and some cool activities you can do to go on a "star hunt" of your own! While we're at the Science Center, we'll learn another Excellent Experiment. And while we're getting ready to enjoy the outdoors with our star maps, we'll learn about a cool place you can go in Oakland County for some winter fun like sledding and tobogganing regardless of whether there's any snow on the ground! 1/20/06 - Greenways Adventure
We're hitting the Clinton River Trail in Oakland County for a Greenways Adventure! We'll hunt for treasure and learn all about the things you can see out on the trail and learn how to make an adventure of your own. We'll learn about some of the other Greenways trails and events that are going on all over Southeast Michigan. Then we'll head over to the New Detroit Science Center for another Excellent Experiment. We're going on an adventure so big, we're bringing it to you in "GUGO-Vision" as we visit the wide-open, frozen arctic tundra without getting too far away from home. Come along with us as we visit the Detroit Zoo and meet some furry friends who feel right at home in the cold January weather. We'll also get ready for this year's Motown Winter Blast, taking place next weekend, right in downtown Detroit! And while we're already out in the cold we'll learn a fun GUGO game you can do outdoors and still have fun even when the weather gets a little chilly.
GUGO Games - Iceberg Jump Rules 2/3/06 - People Mover
We're in downtown Detroit to celebrate Super Bowl XL and all the cool things you can do in our city center if you're planning on taking part in the fun. Come along with us as we ride the People Mover around town and experience all of the neat things that there are to see right now, and any time of the year when you come downtown. And while we're downtown, we'll stop over by the New Detroit Science Center for another Excellent Experiment. 2/10/06 - Curling
We're going to get into the spirit of the Winter Olympics. Come with us as we learn a new sport called curling at the Detroit Curling Club in Ferndale. We'll learn something new at the New Detroit Science Center when we do another excellent experiment, and we'll also learn a fun way to make use of some of that winter ice when playing another GUGO Game - Ice Bowling! 2/17/06 - Ice Skating
We'll be learning some new moves as we do some skating at the Detroit Skating Club in Bloomfield Hills. We'll do some ice fishing at Willow Metropark, and we'll celebrate a New Year with Tu B'Shevat. It's maple sugar time again and we'll be visiting Kensington Metropark to learn all about the art of turning tree sap into a sweet treat. We'll also learn about a snack you can make at home with your maple syrup and learn another Once-A-Day Workout. 3/24/06 - Signs of Spring
We're welcoming spring to Southeastern Michigan by getting out on the trail and looking for signs of life even through it's still a little chilly outside... Come along with us as we do a little investigating at Kensington Metropark and look for evidence that winter's on it's way out. Then we'll visit the Beverly Hills Club for an all new Once-A-Day Workout that you can do right at home. And we'll learn about some other fun activities you can do outdoors and still have fun while you wait for spring to arrive. 3/31/06 - Capture the Flag
We're going to play a game called Ultimate Capture the Flag with some friends at Gallimore Elementary School in Canton. We'll learn something new at the New Detroit Science Center with another Excellent Experiment, keep fit with another Once-A-Day Workout, and now that the weather should get nicer, we'll see how much fun golf lessons can be with The First Tee of Michigan and go over the rules of "Four Square" with GUGO Games! 4/7/06 - Petanque
It's time to play because we're going to be at Campus Martius in downtown Detroit with our new friends from the Detroit Petanque Club as we learn all about a funny little game called petanque. We'll go back to the New Detroit Science Center for another Excellent Experiment, and learn about a Detroit School that take time out to walk... every day! 4/14/06 - Animal Tracks
We're hitting the trail to track down some of our furry friends in Southeast Michigan and see what they're doing this time of year. We'll go to the Rochester Hills Environmental Education Center and learn a lot about animals...without ever having to see them! Then we'll visit the New Detroit Science Center for another Excellent Experiment, and learn how to make a new "Healthy Habits" treat that will get you looking for animals...right in your own kitchen! 4/21/06 - Greenways Adventure #2
We're hitting the Huron River Greenway in Washtenaw County for an all new Greenways Adventure! We'll be on the lookout for some new clues and learn how to make an adventure of your own whenever you're out on the trail. We'll celebrate Earth Day with the Greening of Detroit as we clean up and plant new life in downtown Detroit, try some "Fruity People" with a new "Healthy Habits" recipe, and get some exercise with another fun "Once-a-day" workout that you can do right at home! We're going to be celebrating National Kite Month with our friends at the 4 Seasons Kite Club! We're going to check out the Club's weekly get-together and learn about all of the cool things you can do with kites, even making one of your own! And while we're out in the wind, we'll do a little extra soaring out at Lyon Oaks Metropark with the Michigan International Soaring Society! We'll keep fit with another fun "Once-a-Day" Workout that you can do right at home, and then we'll head over to the New Detroit Science Center for another Excellent Experiment! 5/5/06 - BMX
We're off to Waterford Oaks for some BMX racing. We'll head to the Mediterranean Market and Bakery in Farmington Hills for some Healthy Habits, international style. We'll review some bike safety, and do another Excellent Experiment at the New Detroit Science Center. 5/12/06 - Weather Whys
We've got our umbrellas nearby as we learn all about the dos and don'ts of spring weather in Michigan. We'll visit the National Weather Service in Oakland County with our friend Chris Edwards, the Weather Whys Guy, and learn all about how you can get up, get out, and most importantly stay safe as the severe weather season rolls on! We'll keep fit with another fun "Once-a-day" Workout that you can do right at home, and then we'll head over to the New Detroit Science Center for another Excellent Experiment! 5/19/06 - Footbag
We'll get in a kicking frenzy at Ghesqueire Park in Grosse Pointe Woods as we learn a new game called footbag. We'll continue with our kicking theme as we head to Gallimore Elementary for another GUGO game, and head on over to the New Detroit Science Center for another Excellent Experiment. We're going back in time to learn about how people, and especially kids, got up and got out in the 18th and 19th centuries! Come along with us as we time travel over to the Henry Ford in Dearborn as they teach us some fun things you can do to pass the time outdoors - just like they did over a hundred years ago! And while we're reconnecting with days gone by, we'll make a visit to Calder's Farm in Carleton, to learn how to milk a cow. Then we'll head into the wilderness with the Girl Scouts at Camp Crawford to try our hand at some archery and learn how to throw a tomahawk! 6/16/06 - Frisbee Golf
We're heading to the Kensington Metropark for a lesson in Disc Golf, more commonly known as Frisbee Golf. We'll celebrate the end of summer at the Waterford Oaks Water Park. Then we're off to the New Detroit Science Center for another Excellent Experiment (Seltzer Rocket Pattern). And we'll get some nutritional advice from Dr. Ruth Stevens. 6/23/06 - Farm Park
We're heading downtown to learn all about how you don't have to live on a farm to enjoy everything that's cool about one. Come along with us as we check out Romanowski Park in Detroit where the Greening of Detroit is planting a farm...right in the middle of the city. We'll learn about everything you can grow yourself and why eating organic is one of the healthiest things you can do! Then we'll head back out to the Beverly Hills Club for a little exercise with another Once-a-day workout. And another place that knows all about urban farming is the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, where we'll learn about lettuce from Brother Rick and check out the kinds of delicious meals you can make with your homegrown vegetables. 6/30/06 - Outback Adventure
We're going on a walkabout to visit some furry friends who are most at home when they're hopping around! Come along with us as we visit the Detroit Zoo and see how you can take a trip to the Australian Outback without getting too far away from home. Then we'll learn a fun way you can use your feet outdoors with another fun GUGO game. We'll try an all-new Excellent Experiment at the New Detroit Science Center, and while we're bounding around with the kangaroos, we'll see what's hopping with the Girl Scouts. 7/14/06 - Riverwalk Adventure
We're heading downtown to the Detroit Riverfront for a Greenways Adventure Riverwalk-style! We'll be on the lookout for clues along the Detroit River, learning about all the things you can see when you're there and finding out how to make an adventure of your own. We'll take a trip out to some other local waterways to see how you can have a great time out on the water and learn something, too! Then we'll head over to the New Detroit Science Center for another "excellent experiment" and learn an all new "Once-a-day" workout! We're putting on our swimsuits to learn about the best ways you can be safe when you're around - and in - the water this summer! Come along with us as we check out the Family Aquatic Center at Chandler Park in Detroit and learn how to be water aware, try basic swim strokes and see all the fun ways you can stay cool in the summer heat without going too far from home! We'll head back out to the Beverly Hills Club for a little exercise with another "Once-a-day" workout, and try another Excellent Experiment at the New Detroit Science Center. Then we'll make a new furry friend at the Detroit Zoo in a segment we like to call our GUGO "Creature Feature." 8/25/06 - Mastodon Bones
We're heading out for an adventure in backyard archaeology and paleontology! Come along with us as we check sift for clues to ancient civilizations with the Cranbrook Institute of Science. We'll look for fossils, hunt for mastodon bones and learn about people who lived ten thousand years ago, right here in Southeast Michigan! Then it's over to the Detroit Zoo for another Creature Feature, before we learn another gun GUGO game that you can try yourself as summer comes to a close! 9/1/06 - State Fair
We're heading out to the historic corner of Eight Mile and Woodward for one of the oldest traditions in Michigan! Come along with us as we check out the Michigan State Fairgrounds and learn about all of the fun things you can do when you head on down, from outdoor adventures and animals galore to giant vegetables and bottomless glasses of milk. We'll also meet a group called the Sporting Lands Alliance and find out about the importance of preserving our natural habitats as well as some fun ways that you can enjoy them. We're GUGO-trotting across the ocean to learn kids in Scotland get up, get out and celebrate their heritage at the same time. Come along with us as we travel to the Scottish countryside, or in this case, Historic Greenmead Village in Livonia, to learn all about Scotland. Its history, its culture and a few fun things you can do outdoors just like they do! And while we're out and about in the world, we'll visit the Detroit Zoo for an all new Creature Feature. Then we'll head over to the New Detroit Science Center for an Excellent Experiment, and learn another new GUGO game that you can try on a playground or even in your own backyard. 9/15/06 - Hawkfest
We've got an eye on the sky as we learn about birds of prey - hawks, eagles, falcons, and much more! Join us as we go to Lake Erie Metropark for the annual Hawkfest. We'll also learn about a few healthy habits you can try at home, then head over to the New Detroit Science Center for an Excellent Experiment. 9/22/06 - Michigan Renaissance Festival
We travel back through time to the 16th century as we visit the Michigan Renaissance Festival. Join us as we mingle with royalty, meet a fairy, learn about birds of prey, and see a dragon. We'll conduct another Excellent Experiment at the New Detroit Science Center, do another Once-A-Day Workout, and more. 9/29/06 - Amphibiville
We're coming in from the rain and meeting some amphibious friends who are most at home in the wet weather. Come along with us as we visit the Detroit Zoo, and see how you can take a trip to a tropical rain forest without going too far from home. While we're at the Zoo, we'll check out another all new Creature Feature. Plus, we'll try an all-new Once-a-day Workout. 10/6/06 - Michigan Rocks!
We're going to be learning all about the geology of Michigan, which means we'll be finding out about a whole world of rocks and fossils that exists right under your feet! Come along with us as we visit Waterloo Recreational Park with geologist Charles Barker and learn all abou the kinds of cool rocks you can find, right in your own backyard! 10/13/06 - Leader Dogs
We're meeting some furry friends who really know how to lend a helping hand...or in this case paw! Come along with us as we visit Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester and see how some of man's best friends learn special skills so that they can help people in need in your community! We'll check out another "Creature Feature" at the Detroit Zoo. And while we're downtown, we'll stop by the New Detroit Science Center for another cool "Excellent Experiment" before we try an all new Once-a-day workout that you can do right in your own living room! 10/21/06 - Apples
It's apples, apples everywhere as we visit Wiard's Orchards in Ypsilanti for a look at all the fall fun you can have picking your own apples off the tree, as well as getting a peek at how that delicious apple cider is made. We'll also learn some apple facts that you might not know, try some "Healthy Habits" apple recipes that you can try at home, and learn about some other orchards you can visit, no matter where you get up and get out. Then it's back to the New Detroit Science Center for another excellent experiment. 10/28/06 - Pumpkinfest
We're once again headed out to Rochester for Pumpkinfest. This year it's being held downtown, but we'll revisit our past trips to Van Hoosen Farm for this annual event. So join us for hayrides, pumpkin carving, pumpkin bowling and a trip to the pumpkin patch! We'll also check out a new "Healthy Habit" with our friends at 3aday.org, and then head downtown to the New Detroit Science Center to learn an Excellent Experiment that you can do right at home. 11/3/06 - Corn Maze
It's off to the J. Webb Farm in Newport to learn about all the fun you can have getting lost in this family farm's corn mazes. We'll try our hand at navigating our way through these natural labyrinths while learning all about what makes life on the farm something that's worth checking out. We'll meet a ferocious new friend at the Detroit Zoo with another "Creature Feature," and while we're downtown we'll stop by the New Detroit Science Center for another cool "Excellent Experiment" before we learn about some all new Healthy Habits you can try at home, thanks to our friends at 3aday.org. 11/17/06 - How To Get Unlost
We're going to get stuck in the middle of Kensington Metropark...without knowing our way out! But not to worry, we'll be having a great adventure learning all about how you can use a map and compass to find your way home again. We'll learn about the importance of remembering to eat healthy - even on the go - with more "Healthy Habits" from our friends at 3aday.org. Then we'll go back to the New Detroit Science Center for another Excellent Experiment! And while we're downtown we'll check in with our friends at the Parade Company because believe it or not, Thanksgiving is right around the corner! |
